Seaside Sights in North Wales You Can’t Miss

North Wales has some amazing views that are best enjoyed from the coast. Here are five spectacular seaside sights in North Wales you can’t miss on your next trip to the seaside!

Ynys Llandwyn

For a truly spectacular seaside scene, you have to take yourself to the edge of the world-famous Newborough Beach.  To get there, you’ll need to walk on a footpath that’s largely underwater at high tide, so go to it at low tide! The perfect time to visit is at sunrise or sunset when the scenery is beautifully backlit and sunsets are always breathtaking. As well as its awe-inspiring natural beauty, the nearby area also offers water sports activities such as windsurfing, sailing and kayaking, some folks can be seen kayaking to the island.

There are plenty more fantastic places along the coast worth seeing too, keep reading for more.

Portmeirion

The design of the entire village is based on a never-built Italianate village called Portmeirion – an architectural fantasy created by Birmingham industrialist Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. It has been used as a location for Doctor Who, The Prisoner and much more over the years. Be sure to visit it during your holiday!

The Great Orme

Rising out of the Creuddyn Peninsula is this hulking limestone mass known as the Great Ormes’ head. What makes it so special? Europe’s oldest mines are thought to date back to the Bronze age.

Porth Wen

Along the coast of Anglesey, you can find Victorian Brickworks. The fascinating site is owned by the National Trust and is open to visitors all year round. On your visit, you can see an exhibition about the history of brick-making and take a guided tour around the factory. It’s worth paying a visit because of its unique architecture and it’s one of very few Victorian brickworks left intact with lots of its infrastructure still intact. You also get an amazing view of Anglesey’s coastline. It’s not far from a Caernarfon hotel either!

Penmon Point

If you’re going to go to the seaside in North Wales, it’s impossible to miss Penmon Point. A lonely lighthouse which sits at the mouth of the Menai Strait and on your way back from being out with the family, it’s a must-stop if you want an amazing view of the sunset over the Irish Sea. The views of Snowdonia are also amazing from this spot.
